The Gujarat Titans (GT) are considering the possibility of acquiring Shivam Mavi from the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in exchange for speedster Lockie Ferguson. The option to trade players is currently in effect, and by November 15th, the teams must provide a list of the players they have kept and released.

Following the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 season, the two-time winners released the New Zealand pacer. When the pacer came up for purchase during the IPL 2022 super auction, the franchise did not, however. To obtain his services for 10 crore, GT outbid Delhi Capitals (DC), Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG).

Ferguson had a respectable first season with GT but was replaced midway through the season by fellow speedster Alzarri Joseph as his injury problems started to flare up once more. The current Indian fast bowling lineup, which consists of Mohammad Shami, Yash Dayal, Pradeep Sangwan, Varun Aaron, and Darshan Nalkande, suggests that the reigning champions may be looking to enhance it.

Mavi, who KKR repurchased in the mega-auction, had a forgettable year because the team couldn’t agree on their desired starting lineup. The U-19 World Cup participant changed positions frequently. In the 2022 season, he participated in six games and claimed five wickets at a 10.32 economy rate.

KKR, which also features Pat Cummins, Andre Russell, Chamika Karunaratne, and Tim Southee, could certainly need an international pacer.

By November 15, GT, KKR, and other franchises must submit their player lists.

In advance of the IPL 2023 season, franchises are allowed to make as many retentions as they choose. The franchise’s bankroll for the mini-auction will be increased by the amount used to purchase a released player the season before. The site has not yet been chosen, but the event is scheduled for December 16. For the first time in the competition’s history, the organizers are considering the possibility of holding the auctions abroad.
