KL After three single-digit scores in the 2022 Men’s T20 World Cup. Captain Rohit Sharma and coach Rahul Dravid had unwavering backing for Rahul. Rahul has played in 13 games since the Asia Cup began in August of this year, averaging 27.33 with a 121.03 strike rate. Rahul’s position in the team has come under scrutiny as a result of Virat Kohli and Rohit scoring at strike rates of 142.49 and 138.79, respectively, during the same time span. India doesn’t have any such reservations. When asked if Rahul’s form had become a problem for the leadership, Dravid responded, “No, not at all. He has a track record that has been established, and I think he is a tremendous player.

Rahul performed admirably. He has been batting superbly, in my opinion. These occurrences occasionally occur in T20 matches. For batters in the top order, this tournament hasn’t been all that simple.”I thought he played outstandingly against Australia in the exhibition game alongside Mitchell Starc and Patrick Cummins. He batted brilliantly that day [for his 57 off 33]; I thought it was a really good attack. He is therefore performing exceptionally well. Just hoping that over the next three or four games, everything will come together.

“I think [there] is a unique nature to playing this tournament in this country, that almost game-to-game you’re having to adapt your tactics

“We are aware of his abilities and qualities, and he is ideally suited to these kinds of pitches and environmental factors. He plays well on all fronts. He plays really well and strongly on the back foot, which is clearly quite important under these circumstances.

In these Conditions he earned Rahul some leeway. Rahul has tried three boundaries in the 35 balls he has faced this event, going out on one of them. His other two ejections were for defensive shots. This throws Rahul’s desire into clear focus, which may often be at odds with his superb batsmanship. Dravid was questioned if India could afford to allow Rahul time to get back into shape in such a short format.

There has been some speculation that Rishabh Pant may provide a much-needed left-hand alternative if he begins in place of Rahul, but Pant’s only chance is if Dinesh Karthik is not totally healthy after suffering a back spasm while keeping against South Africa in Perth. Dravid stated that Karthik looked well in the morning before the Bangladesh match and that he will be evaluated after training. On the day of the match, a final decision will be made.
