The last-four of the ICC World T20 will be comprised of two teams from Groups 1 and 2, respectively, of the Super-12 stage. The group rounds of the ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia began on October 16 and the Super 12s began on October 21.
Four teams from the qualifications joined the top eight T20 International teams to create two groups for the Super 12s on November 15, 2021. New Zealand, England, Australia, Sri Lanka, Ireland, and Afghanistan made up Group 1. Group 2 was made up of the Netherlands, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Zimbabwe, and South Africa.
Each team participates in five round-robin matches in the Super 12s, which are played in accordance with the T20 World Cup’s structure and playing rules. A victory awards two points, and a game forfeit results in a single point.
The top two teams from each group advance to the semifinals after all the teams have played each other once in their groups. If two or more teams are tied on points, the team with the most victories will be given the higher spot, followed, if required, by the Net Run Rate (NRR).
For now, Ireland and Afghanistan’s hopes of making the semifinals have been dashed. As of right now, no team has formally qualified for the T20 World Cup semifinals. New Zealand and England from Group 1 and India and South Africa from Group 2 are the favorites to advance to the semifinals as of November 2. Australia is now the top team.
The semi-final matches for the T20 World Cup 2022 will take place on November 9 and 10. November 13 will see the conclusion of the match.
