New Zealand defeated Australia by 89 runs, their first win on Australian soil in any format since 2011. Tim Southee (3/6)’s figures were the catalyst for Australia’s demise. With his spell, Mitchell Santner (3/31) dominated the middle phase. Trent Boult (2/24) handled the tail. Earlier, Devon Conway (92*) and Finn Allen (42) helped New Zealand post 200/3 after Australia batted first. Allen and Conway’s opening partnership scored 56 runs in just 25 balls. Finn hit a 16-ball 42. Conway then added a crucial 69-run partnership with captain Kane Williamson for the second wicket (23). James Neesham’s 13-ball 26 aided New Zealand’s victory.
